Introduction
Yueh-Ping (Alex) Yang is an associate professor at National Taiwan University Law School. He received his LL.B and LL.M at National Taiwan University in 2005 and 2010 respectively, and he also practiced law at Jones Day International Law Firm during that period. In 2011, sponsored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, he commenced his LL.M and S.J.D. studies at Harvard University Law School and received the S.J.D. degree in 2017. Currently, his research interests focuse mainly on financial regulation, corporate governance, and international economic laws, including FinTech, financial institution governance, financial consumer protection, capital markets, international finance, WTO laws, digital trade, law and economics, etc. He is currently the deputy director of the Center for Innovative Enterprise Law at the National Taiwan University and the director of the Asian Center for WTO & International Health Law and Policy at the National Taiwan University College of Law.
Beside academic studies, Yueh-Ping (Alex) Yang advised Taiwan's government agencies and institutions on various legal issues, including the Financial Supervisory Commission, the Ministry of the Digital Affairs, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Office of Trade Negotiations, the Anti-Money Laundering Office, Taiwan Stock Exchange, Taipei Stock Exchange, etc. He also serves as the director of Financial Ombudsman Institute in Taiwan. Internationally, he is the Co-Chair of the World Trade Organization's WTO Chair Programme (Phase III), the Co-Chair of the American Society of Comparative Law's Younger Comparativists Committee, the Executive Council member of the Society of International Economic Law, the member of the Asian WTO Research Network, and the member of the International Monetary Law Committee of the International Law Association, etc. He also serves as the editorial committee member of the Journal of World Investment & Trade, Asian Journal of WTO & International Health Law and Policy, Contemporary Asia Arbitration Journal, and National Taiwan University Law Review.
