Nai-Yi Sun is an ordinary professor of the College of Law, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan. She holds a BA and MS of law from National Taiwan University, as well as a LLM and a PhD of law from the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in Germany. Her areas of specialization include constitutional law, administrative law, social protection law and disability law.
Prof. Sun played a key role in the establishing the Taiwan Social Law and Social Policy Society in 2014 and served as the Society’s first president of council from 2014 to 2016. Together with the core members of the Society, she also co-edited the first textbook of social law in Taiwan.
Her peer-reviewed publications focus on the constitutional issues concerning the welfare state, the reform of Taiwan’s social security systems and the rights of persons with disabilities. In recent years, she severed as counsel for the government in several constitutional litigations, involving cases related to public pension reform, transitional justice, municipal law and disputes over the separation of powers between the legislature and the executive. In addition, she actively collaborates with NGOs to address legal issues arising from the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Together with Prof. Fu-Te Liao, she co-edited a CRPD commentary adapted to Taiwan’s legal context.
