林軒田教授

林軒田教授於2001年在臺灣大學資訊工程系取得學士學位,並於2005年及2008年在美國加州理工學院相繼取得碩士及博士學位。他於2008年返回臺灣大學資訊工程系擔任助理教授,於2012年升等為副教授,並於2017年8月升等為教授。林教授長期投入「機器學習的理論基礎與演算法設計」之研究。他曾經在2013年至2014年兼任台灣人工智慧學會的秘書長,2016年至2019年擔任新創公司沛星科技的首席資料科學家,專注於將人工智慧應用於商業領域。目前林教授仍在沛星科技擔任首席資料科學顧問,與其共同成長。

林教授合著了在亞馬遜線上書店暢銷的機器學習入門教科書「Learning From Data」,並以此教科書為基礎,開設了兩門以中文授課的MOOCs課程「機器學習基石」及「機器學習技法」。林教授於任教之臺灣大學,獲得2011年「教學傑出教師獎」、2013年「優良導師獎」及2016、2017和2018年「教學優良教師獎」;並獲2012年ACM Taipei Chapter「李國鼎青年研究獎」,2013年國科會「吳大猷先生紀念獎」與2017年傑出人才基金會「年輕學者創新獎」。林教授另共同帶領了臺灣大學的團隊,在2010至2013年,連續獲得了四年(六座)的KDDCup世界冠軍。

Prof. Huang-Yu Wang (Dean)

Prof. Huang-Yu Wang, received her bachelor and master’s degrees in law from the College of Law at National Taiwan University. Served as a teaching assistant in the College of Law in 1991-1993; passed the bar exam and practiced as a public defense attorney in Taiwan in 1995-1997. In 1997, Professor Wang received a full scholarship from the ROC government to pursue advanced studies in Germany.

In March 1999, she received another Master’s degree (LLM) from Heidelberg University, and in May 2003, she received her doctorate (Ph. D), also from Heidelberg University. Her dissertation “ Drogenstraftaten und abstrakte Gefaehrdungsdelikte” (Drug-related crimes and the crimes constituted by abstract endangerment of legal interests) was published by Tenea Publication Inc. in Berlin in August 2003 (Juristische Reihe Tenea/www. Jurawelt .com, Bd. 40).

She started as a faculty member in the college of Law in 2003, and became a full-time professor in 2013. She is also the incumbent cheif editor of NTU Law Journal and Vice Dean of college of Law. 

Her research emphases are criminal laws, criminology, criminal policies, drug-related crimes, medical laws, aboriginal crimes, and the comparative study on criminal laws in Germany and Taiwan. She has published “Punishment and Social Disciplines-the Conflict between New and Old Thoughts on Criminal Sanctions in Taiwan and Its Transformation (April 2009)” and over ten academic papers. Her important book publications include the "General Principles of Criminal Law" published in 2014, and "General Principles of Criminal Law" Re-published in 2019.

Prof. Huang-Yu Wang also teaches courses in criminal law, criminology, and criminal policies at the College of Law.

Prof. Sieh-Chuen Huang (Vice Dean)

Professor Sieh-Chuen Huang is a professor of civil law. She received her Bachelor Degree of Laws from NTU, Taiwan (2001) and the master and doctoral degree (Doctor of Juridical Science) from Hokkaido University, Japan (2004 and 2006). Professor Huang has been an assistant professor of law at Hokkaido University (2006-2009), and a visiting scholar at East Asian Legal Studies Program, Harvard Law School (2008-2009). She joined the College of Law at NTU in August 2009 and focuses her research interests on family law, guardianship, trusts and estates, empirical legal studies and legal analytics. Her major publications include Adult Guardianship in Taiwan: A Focus on Guardian Financial Decision-Making and the Family's Role, 9 Journal of International Aging Law & Policy 127-150 (2016) and Family Law in Taiwan: Historical Legacies and Current Issues 14(2) NTU Law Review157-218 (2019). Further imformation see her website.

Prof. Hsuan-Tien Lin

Prof. Hsuan-Tien Lin received a B.S. in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Taiwan University in 2001, an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from California Institute of Technology in 2005 and 2008, respectively. He joined the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at National Taiwan University as an assistant professor in 2008, and was promoted to an associate professor in 2012, and has been a professor since August 2017. He received the title of the Cyberlink/Perfect Endowed Chair Professor in 2022. Between 2016 and 2019, he worked as the Chief Data Scientist of Appier, a startup company that specializes in making AI easier in various domains, such as digital marketing and business intelligence. Currently, he keeps growing with Appier as its Chief Data Science Consultant.

From the university, Prof. Lin received the Distinguished Teaching Awards in 2011 and 2021, the Outstanding Mentoring Award in 2013, and five Outstanding Teaching Awards between 2016 and 2020. He co-authored the introductory machine learning textbook Learning from Data and offered two popular Mandarin-teaching MOOCs Machine Learning Foundations and Machine Learning Techniques based on the textbook. He served in the machine learning community as a Progam Co-chair of NeurIPS 2020, an Expo Co-chair of ICML 2021, and a Workshop Chair of NeurIPS 2022. His research interests include mathematical foundations of machine learning, studies on new learning problems, and improvements on learning algorithms. He received the 2012 K.-T. Li Young Researcher Award from the ACM Taipei Chapter, the 2013 D.-Y. Wu Memorial Award from National Science Council of Taiwan, and the 2017 Creative Young Scholar Award from Foundation for the Advancement of Outstanding Scholarship in Taiwan. He co-led the teams that won the third place of KDDCup 2009 slow track, the champion of KDDCup 2010, the double-champion of the two tracks in KDDCup 2011, the champion of track 2 in KDDCup 2012, and the double-champion of the two tracks in KDDCup 2013. He served as the Secretary General of Taiwanese Association for Artificial Intelligence between 2013 and 2014.

Prof. Yueh-Ping (Alex) Yang

Yueh-Ping (Alex) Yang is an associate professor at National Taiwan University Law School. He received his LL.B and LL.M at National Taiwan University in 2005 and 2010 respectively, and he also practiced law at Jones Day International Law Firm during that period. In 2011, sponsored by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, he commenced his LL.M and S.J.D. studies at Harvard University Law School and received the S.J.D. degree in 2017. Currently, his research interest focuses mainly on financial regulation, corporate governance, and international economics, including FinTech, financial institution governance, financial consumer protection, capital markets, international finance, law and economics, WTO laws, etc.

Prof. Christopher Chao-hung Chen

Dr Christopher Chao-hung Chen received his PhD from University of London (UCL). Dr Chen is currently Associate Professor of Law in the College of Law, National Taiwan University. Before 2021, Dr Chen was a faculty member of Singapore Management University for over 10 years. Dr Chen specialises in corporate law, law of financial derivatives, financial law and regulations, and legal empirical studies.
